Rad Fads: Fall Fashion 2015
Fall Fashion changes with the leaves, and this year has been no exception. New York Fashion week kicked off the month of September, followed by London, Milan, and Paris. Fashion week hosted a number of famous names including Diane von Furstenberg, Givenchy, Kanye West, and Versace.
Some common trends among designers were bold eye catching prints splashed upon tops and dresses. Burgundy and neutral colors such as olive and nude were in vogue, incorporated into suede, leather, and polished sportswear.
Kanye West sent his models down the runway in military inspired ensembles including body suits, oversized bomber jackets, and hoodies all in olive and nude hues. Kanye teamed up with Adidas in creating a new running shoe using woven neutral colors and leather accents, called the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350. Kanye stuck to the recent minimalist, but other designers have begun to branch out.
Diane von Furstenberg made her show a celebration of women with bright berry and golden hues with graphic prints. Her designs included polka dots, architectural lines, and florals printed on chiffon.
Her line was visually exciting and each ensemble gave off a relaxed and fun vibe. Bright pieces with bold prints could be easily worked into any wardrobe as a statement piece to spice up any fall outfit.
The Versace show was easily the boldest, its trends sure to be mimicked this fall. Models strutted down the runway in bold primary colors with emerald, fire engine red, canary yellow, and cobalt blue. Versace added to the statement with oversize bright fur coats, leather skirts, and thigh high boots.
The models weren’t the only ones sporting high fashion. Kate Hudson showed up to the event wearing a coral red dress with interesting cutouts. Cutouts are a continuing celebrity trend, as they were worn by Taylor swift and featured on the Balmain runway.
Thigh high boots have also enjoying continuing popularity, from the bright colored of Versace to the quilted thigh high boots of Moschino. Heidi Clum wore black suede boots with a cutout design to the Versace runway show with a black mini dress and leather jacket. Ciara also wore black suede thigh high boots to the Topshop Unique Show with a white button up and black suede a line skirt.
This fall is a season of extremes, ranging from minimalist to bold and busy. Fashion Week has brought a host of new designs and inspiration. With the wild variance of trends, there is something for everyone this fall.
