Just getting used to the extra five minutes in Spartan Time? Disappointed because you don’t get to enjoy that extra five minutes because you have a Career Center Class? Well get ready because the bell schedule is changing again.

On February 22, 2016, the school day will be shortened by five minutes so that Battle’s day will end at 4:00 P.M. instead of 4:05. Why? Last semester the entire school achieved a sub-300 tardy count for the semester, and they were rewarded with an additional five minutes to allocate somewhere in the school day. Be sure to make good use out of those extra five minutes.

A couple of weeks ago, everyone was sent to their Spartan Time rooms to vote on a new use of the five extra minutes granted by the Spartan 300 Challenge. Among the choices were adding the time to Spartan Time, adding it to lunch, starting five minutes later (at 9:00 A.M. instead of 8:55), or finishing five minutes earlier (4:00 P.M. instead of 4:05).

In a close to unanimous decision, the student body chose to deduct five minutes from the school day, allowing everyone to leave at 4:00 P.M. Dr. Presko says she will air a video on Tuesday the 16^th giving more information to students and parents alike.
