Battle’s early wrestling season

Wrestling Season is upon us and the team has been getting ready with pre-season workouts for most of the school year, Coach Wakim coach of the Battle wrestling team for two years now going into his 2nd year.

On what he is excited about the most

“We have a couple of returners like Andrew Shea, Jackson Shea and Devin York and some young kids i’m excited to see how much better they can get and develop”.

On who do you expect to have a breakout or an impressive season?

“Jackson Shea I think he can be a top 3 kid who was a match away from state, Devin York was a match away from a place from state last year were looking for him to qualify and get a medal.”

On why do you enjoy coaching wrestling?

“I love the sport since high school i like being around it, its my passion and teaching kids and its awesome to them achieve their goals”

Battle sophomore wrestler Jackson Shea on what he thinks will different.

“I think we are more improved and experienced as a team that should help us suceed”.

Battle sophomore wrestler Ethan Weidmier on what he is excited most

“I am most excited about the tri-meet between Rockbridge, Hickman and Battle at PAC here at

Battle on January 4th, 2018 and i’m hoping we take the belt”.

Battle has had 2 meets so far into the season, November 28th against Centralia and Moberly where Battle was defeated by Centralia 39-33 and defeated by Moberly 43-33.

Their next match is on December 8th Missouri Duals.
