Battle vs SLUH Week 1 Preview
Week 1 of the football season is finally here and the spartans are ready for their first test against the St Louis University High Jr Billikens for the first time ever.
Last season the Spartans finished with an 8-4 record and suffered a heartbreaking loss to Carthage High School last season 7-28 in the Class 5 State Quarterfinal game. The Spartans return 6 starters on the offensive side of the ball lead by Senior QB North Dakota State commit Jaren Lewis, the Spartans look to have their offensive side of the ball improved from last season, the Spartans return 6 starters as well on the defensive side of the ball, the Spartans will have a change on the defense without the former Spartan Tre Morris, the defense this season will be lead with a group of seniors such as Senior LB Jake Hedrick and Senior CB Jaylon Williamson.
The Jr Billikens are coming off a 3-7 season and a 42-55 lost in their first round district matchup with Ritenour High School, the Billikens have a really big offensive line that can be pretty aggressive a great run game with their running backs, their defense brings back a lot of starters and are looking to improve the defense from what it was from last season, but are really young at the cornerback positions as both of the starting corners for SLUH are freshmen.
The Spartans defeated the Jr Billikens with a score of 53-25 to go to 1-0.
