Battle vs Hickman Week 6 Preview

Fresh off of homecoming week, we have reached week 6 of the football season and the 3-2 Battle Spartans will head to Robert E. Lemone Field to face the 1-4 cross town rival Hickman Kewpies.

The Spartans are fresh off a learning experience after its second loss of the season to the 5-0 Jackson Fighting Indians 33-60. The Spartans will look to have a good run game and also take advantage of the mighty Kewpie defense, although the Spartans scored only 33 points last week, the Spartans are averaging a huge 48.0 PPG, the defense will look not to give up 60 points again like last game, the defense will also look to get the average amount of points they allow as the Spartan defense so far this season has allowed 38.8 PPG this season.

The Kewpies are coming off a loss to the 3-2 cross town rival Rock Bridge 0-31 to make it their fourth straight loss after shocking state ranked Pattonville Pirates in their first game of the season, their offense scores only score an average of 14.0 PPG this season, the Kewpies Junior QB Jevean Brown will get his shot at the Spartans for the first time as he wasn’t allowed to play in the Jamboree due to MSHSAA ruling him ineligible at that point of the season, their defense gives up an average of 30.2 PPG but have really shown that early in the game as they stopped Rock Bridge Stanford Commit Nate Pete at the 1 yard line four consecutive times.

This games shows around a lot of drama, Kewpies Head Coach Cedric Alvis will coach his first ever game against the Spartans after being apart of the Battle coaching staff for the first five years of the program, as well as former Spartan coaches Carlos Hall, and former coach and member of the 2014 state championship team Kole Hinton.

The game tomorrow night is a White out so come out and and scream loud for the Spartans.
