Baseball Jamboree
The baseball team has been waiting for this season. They started the season off with a jamboree with Hickman and Rock Bridge Saturday, March 9, 2019.
Battle and Hickman started the jamboree at three, playing four innings. In the game Hickman got three runs, and won the game, ending the game in 3-0.
Right after the Hickman game, Battle faced Rock Bridge. The ending score was 20-0, Rock Bridge.
Joe Lee, senior and varsity pitcher and third baseman, said, “Compared to Rock Bridge and Hickman, who play to win, I feel like it was more of an opportunity to see live pitching. We took that to our advantage and made sure everyone got live swings.”
Backing each other up is very important in playing baseball. Being supportive to the pitcher during games, and for all of the players to be connected. Carson Fewell, junior, left outfielder, states, “Communication is key to team success, and there is no “i” in team.”
Fewell said, “I felt like we could have improved on some stuff, but overall we did well as a whole team.” He thought that the jamboree was a good opportunity to get live pitching.
Battle Baseball’s next home game is March 26, 2019 against Rolla at four.
