Upcoming TV Shows/Movies

This summer would be a perfect time to watch new shows and movies or catch up on those you have already started. Whether you watch them with friends, family, or by yourself, there are a lot of new shows and movies coming out. Some will debut on Netflix or TV, while others will be shown at theaters. Despite the location, there are a variety of different films coming out, so choosing some that are enjoyable for you shouldn’t be too much of a challenge. The following movies are rated PG to PG-13 and have been highly anticipated.

1.) The Last Summer (Movie)

The Last Summer is a film that is expected to come out on Netflix on May 3. This film stars actors such as K.J. Apa, Maia Mitchell, Tyler Posey, and more. This movie is about a group of friends who have just graduated high school and are spending their last summer together before pursuing their future plans and going separate ways. This drama would be a good movie to watch with a group of friends, as it may relate to many teenagers because of the timing and setting.

2.) Stranger Things (Season 3)

Season 3 of the popular Netflix series, Stranger Things, is said to release on July 4. It follows the plot of the previous series’. In season 3, it is the summer of 1985 in Hawkins, Indiana and shows what the town is like after a monster from the Upside Down nearly destroyed it. With characters from the previous seasons, fans are excited to see what the new season will be like. This is one of the most highly anticipated shows for the summer.

3.) 13 Reasons Why (Season 3)

13 Reasons Why is a teen drama series that covers several heavy issues, such as suicide and bullying, which teenagers may face in high school. This is a mature show so it is good to be cautious before watching. The first two seasons of this show were very popular on Netflix so the third series is expected to be very popular as well. The release date is unknown, but it has been announced that there will be a third season on Netflix in 2019. 13 Reasons Why started as a novel, written by Jay Asher, but has highly exceeded past just the novel. This has been a controversial series in the past, so viewers are anxious to see what the new season will consist of.

4.) The Sun is Also a Star (Movie)

Natasha (Yara Shahidi) and Daniel (Charles Melton) are two strangers who fall in love in New York City. This film is a modern day love story about two people who are determining the plans for the rest of their lives. They try to decide if this was because of fate or was a random act of the universe. Natasha has to juggle her personal life, including her family’s deportation, and her love life with Daniel. This film is expected to be in theaters on May 17th and is rated PG-13.

5.) The Intruder (Movie)

This film is about a newly married couple, Scott (Michael Ealy) and Annie (Meagan Good), who buy their dream house but become suspicious of the hidden motivations behind the seller. The seller, Charlie (Dennis Quaid), sold the house very quickly to the young couple and may have some secret intentions. This film falls under the category mystery and suspense and is expected to be in theaters on May 3rd with a rating of PG-13.

There are many movies and shows expected to be released this spring and summer, including continuing series or new films. This allows people so many options and a variety of places or platforms to watch the new films on. Many genres allow people with different taste in movies to find something they can enjoy watching.
