Battle vs Rock Bridge Week 3 Preview

With a few games already completed, week three of football Friday nights is underway.  The 1-1 Spartans take on crosstown rival,Rock Bridge. The Bruins are currently 0-2 for the season.  

The Spartans took full control of the ball game from the first snap to the last. The Spartans beat the Smith Cotton Tigers 61-21. The football team pulled over 370 yards of offense and had multiple touchdown passes from senior quarterback Harrison Keller and junior quarterback Khaleel Dampier. Junior Daleshuan Coleman and sophomore Gerry Marteen also had multiple touchdown runs. Senior running back Darren Jordan will play this week after an ankle injury sidelined him last week. The defense also made some big stops on fourth down. The defense had an interception from senior cornerback Quentarius Vaughn and a fumble return for a touchdown from junior linebacker Jasper Lindsey. Special Teams made some key plays as well, recovering a fumble on the kickoff in the first quarter, and a punt block return for a touchdown by senior Trevonne Hicks.

The Bruins couldn’t seem to get anything going against the DeSmet Jesuit Spartans who took over from the beginning.. The Spartans defeated the Bruins 50-7. The Bruins have two of the best players in the state and Mizzou football commits, including defensive end and offensive tackle Jalen Logan-Redding and lineback Will Norris. Their offense also has returning quarterback, Grant Hajicek who started last season.. They however had to replace Byrce Jackson, after Nathaniel Peat, one of their best players in program history, who now attends Stanford University.  

The Spartans will travel to Sells Family Field on Friday Night.
