Battle vs Harrisonville Week 4 Preview

The football team is officially one third of the way through the regular season tonight at home, your 2-1 Spartans will be facing off against the 0-3 Harrisonville Wildcats.

The Spartans last Friday Night shocked many people of who believed crosstown rival Rock Bridge would win. The Spartans defeated the Bruins 21-14. Dawson Meierotto, senior receiver, had two touchdown catches last week, including a one-handed grab in the first quarter to give the Spartans a 13-0 lead to start the game. Sophomore Gerry Marteen would score the final touchdown for the Spartans in the second quarter to make the score 19-0. The defense allowed only 14 points all game, the lowest this season so far, allowing only seven points in both half  and were able to get a safety in the third quarter to make the score 21-7 going into the fourth. The Bruins had a chance for a comeback, but the defense was able to stop the Bruins in the final two minutes to seal the victory for the Spartans.

The Wildcats were up by 14 points in the final three minutes last week against the Blue Valley Northwest (Kansas) Huskies but allowed 14 points in a minute and a half to send the game to overtime, the Wildcats could not capitalize on their offensive possession and allowed a game-winning  touchdown catch in overtime to lose 28-34, it was the Huskies first win since October 2017. The Wildcats bring back a young and experienced team this season.

Tonight’s theme for the game will be USA themed, make sure to wear your red, white, and blue.l
