It’s that time of year when people begin preparing and decorating their house for the holiday season. There have been many studies that show the benefits of decorating your house. One major benefit is that it improves your overall mood. 

According to Business Insider, “People who decorate the outside of their home using lights and other decorations tend to be more friendly compared to their neighbors.” 

Researchers believe that decorating for Christmas brings back childhood memories associated with decorating, which creates feelings of happiness during this time. “Part of the joy that can come from decorating for Christmas comes from nostalgia, which has been shown in studies to stir emotions and increase joy,” according to Business Insider.
