Speech and Debate kicks off their competition season
Speech and Debate officially kicked off their season on October 7-8th with their first tournament at Blue Springs, and according to many people on the team, they’re already seeing terrific success.
“I am really excited and hopeful seeing these results,” said Liz Flippin, a Speech and Debate team coach, “students kind of blew our expectations out of the water.”
At the beginning of this year, Speech and Debate only had one member, Camden Fallon, Junior. This has now grown to over 20 people who have joined speech and debate.
“We have an awesome team this year, I’m very excited to see the growth that we already have experienced and will continue to experience,” said Fallon, Speech and Debate team captain.
Subere Ba, Sophomore, and Ryan Wilson, Sophomore got first place in public forum debate at the blue springs competition. Subere said she highly recommends Speech and Debate and “You go in and expect everybody to be 10x better than you but really they’re just like you.”
