This year, the senior class put on the annual powderpuff game on the football field. The game was rescheduled after the original November 4 was canceled due to rain. Powderpuff football consists of senior girls and junior girls playing against each other in a friendly competition. While the girls are out playing on the field, the boys are there coaching the players. The game is played in two halves, each lasting twenty minutes with a running clock. It is played in a seven-on-seven format, with each team going fifty yards to the endzone.
Last year the class of 2025 beat the class of 2024. The class of 2025 continued their winning history by beating the class of 2026 this year with a score of 32-6. “I definitely knew we were gonna win seeing how much athletic talent we had on our team,” said senior Lila Tidball. For the juniors, despite the loss, they still had a great experience. Junior Tena Green said “We had so much fun playing in the powderpuff game even with the loss. It was a fun time with all the upperclassmen and I would definitely play again.”
This year’s competition brought out the competitiveness in all of the participants. This includes the boy coaches who were there telling their players where to line up and what plays to run. The coaches showed large amounts of enthusiasm and energy which made the game. Junior Ames Mikonga said “I enjoyed coaching my team. We tried putting in plays for certain players that would fit their abilities but it just didn’t work out in the end, but the game was still a really fun experience.” Keeping this tradition alive the juniors hope to compete better in their future games while the seniors can graduate happily knowing they went 2-0.
