With the Boys Basketball season right around the corner, comes the Spartans preseason. Preseason workouts are where the players work to improve their game both as individual players, and as a team.
Last season the basketball team had a record of 17 wins and eight losses. With that, there’s one big question: Are they prepared to take on the challenges this season has to offer?
“Oh yeah, very ready, we started preseason workouts this week,” head coach and assistant athletic director Benjamin Pallardy said. “I think we got a pretty good group this year, pretty senior heavy, with some really talented juniors.”
One thing to look out for this season is the matchup against Rock Bridge on January 16. Along with that, the Spartans have been working on improving aggressiveness and setting up scoring opportunities.
“I would say keep an eye on Rock Bridge, I know they’re good this year.” senior guard-forward Caden Lewis said. “I think I’m efficient in setting up my teammates to score, also just being aggressive and looking for opportunities for head hunting.”
Varsity will have some new faces on the court with the 2025 seniors graduated and off to college. Since a few players will be moving up to varsity, a few of the players that are hopeful to move up to varsity are Ta’Vorian “Tootie” Prince and Jabari “Bari” Hughes.
“I mean I’m kind of nervous about moving up, but also excited for the season.” sophomore guard Jabari Hughes said.
