At 5:30 tonight, Battle and Hickman will face off for the first time since the Columbia Baseball Tournament last year, which Battle lost 2-4. With an ever growing rivalry, the games are always intense. Local rivals bring their best to every game, trying to earn the better record and bragging rights until they meet again.

Coming into the game this year, Battle will have already played 6 games compared to Hickman’s 3. This could give Battle a slight edge, having more experience playing together and more practice. Another interesting aspect of the game is the close proximity of the schools to each other. The schools are located just 7 miles apart.

Christian Verslues said, “Local games are pretty fun because there’s not a lot of travel time and some of the opponents are friends I’ve known a long time.”

With this being a local game, Battle fans can easily come and support their team. With a small taste of victory last season, fans want to see more this year and all the support they can give is always appreciated.
