2nd Semester Schedule Changes

On Monday, November 27, students may pick up a form to drop or add a class from the counseling department. The students are responsible for getting the needed signatures from a parent/guardian, the outgoing teacher and the incoming teacher. If a student is trying to drop an AP class there is an additional form needed. These forms must be returned to the counseling office by November 30.

There is a field trip to the Saint Louis Zoo that occurs in March. A love or at least curiosity about animals will be important to enjoy the class”.

Global Cuisine

In Global Cuisine, students will learn about foods from around the world and then get the chance to make them. Lori Doerhoff, Global Cuisine teacher says, In Global Cuisine we learn about food associated with regions of the world. We first start off with the 5 regions of the United States. Once we learn what kind of food specialized to each area, we then cook food for that particular region. After the US, we move on to countries of the world and study them. We focus on; what foods are native to certain areas and WHY. The why may be that is what is grown here, it could be that is what type of food was brought to this area by immigrants, or it could be culturally related to that area. Students in Global Cuisine get to taste foods that they may not be familiar with, while sharpening their culinary skills.”

Teen & Social Issues

Teen & Social Issues teaches about real life issues you and your peers may experience. Lori Doerhoff, Teen & Social Issues teacher says, “Teen and Social Issues is a class that is not always filled. However when taught it focuses on issues that are present in the world and especially teenage lives. This class will provide valuable information to help teens make sound decisions that will impact their development. The teachers try and teach students how to prepare items homemade and to stray away from “boxed” foods. We make all food from scratch and even take a REAL pumpkin and turn it into a pumpkin pie. Other homemade foods prepared are; jam, biscuits, pizza, breads, cookies, waffles, Dorito ramen salad, and on and on!”
