On October 17, Battle High School Football played versus Jefferson City with a final score of 40-48. 

“We did pretty good, and we did have some touchdowns that were called off which did mess us up pretty bad.” Ty Walbrecht, C position said.

Walbrecht believes everyone did their job in playing their part, and it was the best week they had, though the team did not get a win. If the Battle football team continues with the training that they’re doing, then most likely they will get better within the season.   

“Defense, getting good stops, and offense actually scoring.
Everybody played as a team in the first half, and everyone played as a team and having fun together I feel like that was the best success ”. Tavarus Dampier, D line and O line sophomore, said. 

Although everyone did their job in the game the team lost due to some touchdowns that were called back, those mistakes made it harder to win, leaving the final score forty to forty-eight 

 “I feel like we were just slacking, just a little bit in the second half, because we came out with the first half, 100% ready. I feel like in the second half they came back, and the other team started scoring, and we started putting our heads down. But, yeah, that’s how it went and that’s how it made us lose,” Eric Hill said. 

Senior Eric Hill believes that The Battle team did a great job and that if they would make those two touch downs they would’ve won. Many of the players were happy about the final score. It was just that the other team wanted to score more , also if all the students would’ve been locked in on their grades everybody would’ve played in the game, and as a team. 

“We gave it all out in that game, but it was just—it came down to who wanted it more. So, they wanted (it) more. We just had to execute better, but it was fine. We were happy with our score,” Hill said. 

Battle High School students were disappointed about the loss of the game. Some players were sad that their old coach was playing for the other team, but many believe they did a good job and that this was their best game out of the season. It was a great time for everyone who attended the game.
