Student Council sells Smoothie King smoothies in the Commons a select few Wednesdays of every month to donate money to charities, such as the Special Olympics on January 21, to give students access to a sweet treat.
While a portion of the money does go to a charity for the Special Olympics, the Student Council also makes sure to give back to the school.
“We give the smoothie money away to other clubs and the student council, and sometimes it goes to whoever needs it,” Carrigan Stephens, sophomore and Student Council Public Relations said.
All smoothies bring in money; however, not all flavors sell equally.
“Island Impact is our fan favorite,” Stephens said. It’s a tropical island mix of pineapples, mangoes, papaya juice blend, apple pineapple juice blend, and protein blend. The smoothies are twelve ounces, and they cost five dollars.
The other flavor available is Caribbean Way. This flavor is a mixture of bananas, strawberries, papaya juice blend and turbinado (sugar).
There is a clear fan favorite Island impact, but students still have some love for Caribbean Way. “My favorite is the strawberry banana and it tastes amazing.” Jayden Farnham, sophomore said. “The flavors contrast perfectly together.”
