The 2025 movie Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler, recently broke multiple records. Sinners set an Oscars all-time record with 16 nominations for the 98th Academy Awards, which surpasses the previous record of 14, held by Titanic, La La Land, and All About Eve, according to the Associated Press.
Not only did it set records, it made history. Sinners broke box office records for a rated R horror movie and surpassed $400 million dollars globally.
Sinners is a supernatural horror movie set in segregated Jim Crow-era Clarksdale, Mississippi. The story focuses around twin brothers, both played by Michael B Jordan, who return to their hometown to open a juke joint. Later the juke joint becomes surrounded by vampires.
There’s two things this movie excels in: the soundtrack and the cast. To me, not that many movies have a soundtrack that actually fits the movie really well. One song that stood out to me, Flames of Fortune by Don Toliver and Ludwig Göransson.
The casting was near perfect. Michael B. Jordan was able to play both of the main characters and make it look easy. There was an actress who stood out too, that being of course, Hailee Steinfeld. Instead of using her natural accent, she convincingly uses an accent that fit the Southern setting and era.
Overall, I would say Sinners is definitely a great movie. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend seeing it. I’m not the only person saying this either, the movie industry backs it up by the amount of awards the movie has won or been nominated for.

I agree, the soundtrack and story are both amazing!
