National School Counselor week is a dedicated week to show appreciation of all school counselors within the United States. This year students and staff celebrated from February 1 to February 6. Staff and students showed gratitude for Battle’s counselors through small tokens of words and actions by visiting them with short conversations to express their admiration and respect for all the work counselors do.
“There are students that will bring in something they’ve drawn, or a thank you note, I have gotten a thank you note from students before just by helping them with something small.” Azania Wolfe, secretary for counseling, said.
School counselors throughout the United States help provide academic support, social, and mental support. Counselors at Battle provide many resources for students to use and create a welcome environment for all of Battle’s community and try to ensure no students go unnoticed or left out, for this school counselors week Battle’s staff celebrates with a counselors breakfast.
“They made sure we had breakfast for all of us.” Ashley Martin, counselor said. “I have to have gluten- and dairy-free, and they made sure I was able to eat as well.”
Though counselors get a week dedicated to them, students show appreciation throughout the year with students building bonds with them and creating unforgettable relationships.
“I have students who have moved off to another school, and they’ll reach back and let me know like ‘Hey I’m doing good.” Mrs. Martin said.
